i have to wear a plaster on it but only when i need to wear shoes. is it the drugs as i've just notice small cuts on my hands
which also seem not to heal. i'm on methorexate and sulfasalazine should i be worried or mention it to the gp when i next go.

I don't think you should worry, Lynne, but I think you should get it checked with your GP. Stuff on the feet that won't heal really needs something to clear it up quickly.

Let us know how you get on.

Don't know what the weather is like with you, but we've got about 3" of snow here. Everything looks beautiful, but it's so cold. The kids over the road have made a huge snowman and given him a carrot nose. He's wearing a red scarf and looks very festive!

I have huge problems with cuts and dryness round my fngertips and heels Lynne.
I use flexitol heel balm and cover with a plaster.
A huge tub of aqueous cream is good too.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

I find even the smallest cuts seem to take longer to heel, but if I get a blister I swear by "Compeed" blister plasters from Boots. They aren`t cheap, but they certainly do the trick.

Take care,

Hi Lynne.

Sorry that you have been having problems with these sores on your feet and hands.

As a Podiatrist in a previous life (long story!) I would suggest that you see your GP ASAP about this blister on your heel - it's probably nothing but the last thing you want over the holidays is for it to get worse or get an infection in it.

I would also suggest that you see a Podiatrist that could dress this blister appropriately for you. If you are registered with an NHS Podiatrist already, they will have an 'emergency' number that you can phone to be seen very soon. If you aren't already registered with the Podiatry team your GP will be able to refer you. Most NHS Podiatry teams will also have 'emergency contingencies' to cover the holidays.

Unfortunately, with methotrexate, delayed healing can be a side-effect - I know from personal experience.

The only other bit of advice that I can give you is to keep UNBROKEN skin moisturised. As JulieM suggested, you can get huge tubs of unperfumed aqueous creams either on prescription or direct from the chemist.

Hope this helps a bit

Take care.

Ouch sounds really sore and nasty- those plasters in boots sound like a good idea though- might get some in stock myself.

Much love and hope it heals soon.

Hi,
I am glad it is just not me who has dreadful hands. I have tiny cuts on the end of my fingers and peeling skin but as I am out with my pet sheep tending to their every need in all weathers it is hardly surprising! I just use hand cream and try to keep my hands out of site when I go to anywhere respectable. They usually improve when the weather gets warmer. However I always have small cuts on my hands which take a long time to heal but I have found that if I put Savlon cream on at night and a plaster over them they seem to heal quicker than if I just leave them.
Definately would not win a beautiful hands contest!

Jayne

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND HOPE FOR A LESS PAINFUL NEW YEAR
